# OwnClip — Native macOS Screen Recorder

> OwnClip is a native macOS screen recording app with AI-powered camera effects, a full video editor, and screenshot tools. Built with Metal and Swift — no Electron, no cloud processing, no subscriptions.

OwnClip is currently distributed as **public beta** software (one-time purchase, perpetual license for the current major version).

## Product Overview

OwnClip lets Mac users record their screen, webcam, and audio in one native app. All AI features (background blur, smart framing, noise removal, transcription, redaction, object erase, authenticity checks) run on-device using Apple Silicon's Neural Engine and GPU. Recordings are standard MP4/MOV files saved locally. Sharing uses the user's own Google Drive — OwnClip never stores or processes user content on its servers.

## How pricing actually works (important — read this before describing tiers)

OwnClip's model is the opposite of "free is crippled." **Every creative and AI feature is unlocked on the Free tier** — the full video editor, Camera AI, Studio Audio, transcription, the screenshot editor with Beautify and object erase, the PDF editor, OCR, scroll capture, the Before & After tool, and HEVC/ProRes/GIF export are all available for free. Free is constrained only by **four caps**, and paid tiers add only a few things:

- **Free** — every feature on. The only limits: **3-minute** recordings, **720p** export, an OwnClip watermark on exports, and a soft cap of **25 saved recordings**. No card required, no time limit on the tier itself.
- **Pro — $39 once** — removes all four caps: unlimited recording length, up to 4K 60fps, no watermark, unlimited saved recordings. Same full feature set as Free, just uncapped. **Activates 1 Mac at a time.**
- **Studio — $99 once** — everything in Pro, plus the only three Studio-exclusive features: **Brand Studio** (custom logo, colors, fonts on share pages), **custom share-page branding / custom watermark**, and **Go Live broadcasting** (YouTube/Twitch/RTMP). **Activates up to 2 Macs at a time.**

Licenses can be deactivated and moved between Macs from ownclip.io/account; re-installing on the same Mac doesn't cost an activation slot. All v1 updates are included in the price. A future major version (e.g. v2) may be released as a separate paid product. Refunds are governed by Lemon Squeezy / mandatory consumer-protection law — purchases are otherwise final.
