By installing, accessing, or using the OwnClip macOS application, the OwnClip website (ownclip.io), the video viewer (view.ownclip.io), or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," "your") and OwnClip ("we," "us," "our," "the Company").
You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
OwnClip is a privacy-first screen recording and editing tool available as a native macOS application. All media processing (recording, encoding, AI inference) occurs locally on your Mac. The Service uses server-side infrastructure for authentication, license validation, analytics, and sharing — but never for storing or processing your recordings. The Service includes:
The Service includes an electronic signature feature that allows you to visually place a drawn or saved signature image onto PDF documents. Each signature is accompanied by an embedded audit trail containing a timestamp, device identifier, and optional IP address. The signed document is flattened (rasterized) and protected with basic PDF security to deter casual editing. This is not a cryptographic digital signature. It does not use Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), certificate authorities, or any form of cryptographic verification, and does not guarantee tamper-proof integrity.
Electronic signature laws vary by jurisdiction (e.g., the ESIGN Act in the United States, eIDAS in the European Union, the Electronic Transactions Act in various countries). You are solely responsible for determining whether an OwnClip electronic signature is legally sufficient for your specific use case and jurisdiction. We make no representation or warranty that signatures created with OwnClip will be legally binding or enforceable in any particular context.
You agree to hold harmless OwnClip, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or losses arising from your use of the electronic signature feature, including but not limited to disputes over document authenticity, signature validity, or regulatory non-compliance.
The Service includes an image and video authenticity detection feature that analyzes media to estimate the likelihood that it was created by an AI generator (e.g., Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion). This feature uses a combination of metadata forensics, frequency analysis, visual pattern recognition, and machine learning models to produce a confidence score and verdict.
All results are informational recommendations only. The detection system may produce false positives (flagging authentic content as AI-generated) or false negatives (failing to detect AI-generated content). Detection accuracy depends on many factors including image quality, compression, editing history, and the specific AI generator used. AI generation techniques evolve rapidly, and detection models may not recognize newer generators or techniques.
You must not rely on OwnClip's authenticity detection as the sole basis for any decision with legal, financial, journalistic, academic, employment, or other consequential implications. The verdicts (e.g., "Likely Authentic", "Likely AI-Generated") represent the system's best estimate, not a factual determination. Always apply independent judgment and, where appropriate, seek expert verification.
You agree to hold harmless OwnClip, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or losses arising from reliance on authenticity detection results, including but not limited to incorrect verdicts, missed AI-generated content, or false accusations of content manipulation.
OwnClip is currently distributed as beta software and is under active development. By purchasing a paid license or by using the Free tier, you acknowledge and agree that:
Your refund and liability rights remain governed by Sections 5.4, 13, and 14, and by applicable mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction.
The Service includes optical character recognition (OCR) — extracting text from screenshots and video frames — on-device speech-to-text transcription, and automated detection of potentially sensitive information (the "PII Scanner"), which relies on the same recognition pipeline. These features are powered in whole or in part by operating-system frameworks provided by Apple (including Apple Vision and Apple Speech Recognition) and by on-device models that we do not author or control and that may change with macOS updates.
All recognition output is provided for convenience and is informational only. We do not warrant that it is accurate, complete, or error-free. OCR and transcription may misread characters, omit or duplicate text, mis-segment words, mis-attribute speakers, or fail to recognize content entirely. The PII Scanner may miss sensitive data (false negatives) or flag non-sensitive content (false positives); it must not be treated as a guarantee that a recording, screenshot, or document contains no personal, confidential, or regulated information.
Language support is limited and conditional. OCR and transcription are available only for a specific set of supported languages and scripts, which may change over time and which depend on the capabilities your device and operating system make available. Languages, dialects, regional accents, mixed-language content, specialized or technical terminology, handwriting, and non-standard or stylized fonts may be partially supported or unsupported, and quality varies accordingly. The listing of a language in marketing materials, documentation, or in-app does not guarantee any particular level of accuracy for your specific content.
Recognition quality depends on many factors outside our control, including source resolution and image quality, compression and editing history, font, layout, contrast and lighting, audio quality, microphone hardware, background noise, overlapping or simultaneous speech, speaking rate and clarity, and the version of the underlying operating-system models present on your device.
You must not rely on OCR, transcription, or automated sensitive-data detection as the sole basis for any decision or disclosure with legal, financial, medical, compliance, privacy, or other consequential implications. Always review and independently verify the output before relying on it, including manually confirming that any sensitive information has been correctly identified and redacted before you share or publish.
You agree to hold harmless OwnClip, its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or losses arising from reliance on OCR, transcription, or automated detection results, including but not limited to misread or missing text, inaccurate subtitles, or sensitive information that was not detected or redacted. These features are provided on an "as is" basis (see Section 13).
Screenshots, images, videos, animations, demos, mockups, and other visual content shown on our website, store and checkout listings, social media, and other marketing or documentation materials are provided for illustration purposes only. They may not reflect the actual product one-to-one.
Such content may be simulated, staged, stylized, enhanced, sped up, edited, or otherwise modified for clarity or presentation, and may depict features, configurations, sample data, interface layouts, performance, or results that differ from, or are not available in, the current version of the Service on your device. Visual appearance, output quality, and available functionality vary with your hardware, operating-system version, settings, source material, and tier.
Nothing in any illustrative content constitutes a representation, warranty, or guarantee that the Service will look, behave, or perform identically. The authoritative description of what the Service includes is the text of these Terms and the in-app functionality actually delivered to you, subject to Section 2.3 (Beta Status) and Section 13. Where illustrative content conflicts with these Terms, these Terms control.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the OwnClip macOS application on devices you own or control, solely for your personal or internal business purposes. This license does not include the right to:
You shall not:
This license is subject to our direct distribution terms if downloaded from ownclip.io, or the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions if distributed via the Mac App Store.
The Service incorporates open-source software components, each governed by their respective licenses. These include, but are not limited to: Sparkle (MIT), HaishinKit (BSD-3-Clause), and swift-atomics (Apache 2.0). The open-source licenses take precedence over these Terms solely with respect to those specific components. A full list of open-source components and their licenses is available upon request at info@inuxo.com.
The Service collects usage data and error reports to help us improve product quality and stability. Analytics in the macOS application are collected through our own first-party infrastructure — we do not embed third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the application. (Our website at ownclip.io uses a separate web analytics service; see our Privacy Policy.) By using the Service, you consent to this collection. Specifically:
This telemetry data does not include: the content of your recordings, transcriptions, or screenshots; or your screen activity or application usage outside OwnClip. If you are signed in, your anonymized user ID may be associated with analytics events for license tier enrichment.
Analytics data is retained for 90 days (raw events) and 30 days (error reports), after which it is automatically deleted. Aggregated daily statistics (counts only, no individual data) are retained indefinitely.
You may opt out of analytics collection in the application settings without affecting functionality. For full details on what is collected and how, see our Privacy Policy, Section 2.5.
The macOS application may be updated automatically via its built-in update mechanism (Sparkle). Updates may include bug fixes, new features, or security patches. During update checks, your IP address, macOS version, and application version are sent to our software update feed, which is hosted on GitHub Releases. By using the Service, you consent to receiving these updates. You can disable automatic update checks in the application settings. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
The Service is offered in three tiers. Paid tiers are sold as one-time purchases, not subscriptions. Feature availability and limits differ by tier as described below and on our Pricing page, and remain subject to the Beta status described in Section 2.3.
The Free tier is available at no cost. Every feature in the Service is unlocked on the Free tier, with two exceptions reserved for the Studio tier (Brand Studio and Go Live broadcasting — see Section 4.3). The Free tier includes:
The Free tier has certain persistent limits, designed so you can evaluate the full Service before deciding whether to remove them. These include a per-recording length limit, a maximum export resolution, an OwnClip watermark on exports (non-removable on the Free tier), and a soft limit on how many recordings you keep in your local library. The specific limit for each tier is shown on our Pricing page and may change over time.
The Free tier requires no credit card and has no time limit. From time to time we may offer a time-limited grace period that exposes Studio-tier features (Brand Studio, Go Live) for evaluation; any such grace period is offered at our discretion and does not entitle you to those features after it ends.
The Pro tier is a one-time purchase of $39 USD that removes the Free-tier caps described in Section 4.1. Pro does not unlock additional features beyond what Free already includes — it removes the friction. Specifically, Pro provides:
The Studio tier is a one-time purchase of $99 USD and includes everything in Pro, plus two Studio-only capabilities reserved for creators, agencies, and teams:
YouTube Live and the YouTube Data API. When you use Go Live to broadcast to YouTube, OwnClip authenticates with your Google account via OAuth and uses the YouTube Data API v3 under the youtube.force-ssl scope solely to create a broadcast, bind a stream, and transition broadcast state. Video frames stream peer-to-peer over RTMP from your Mac to YouTube's ingestion endpoint and do not pass through OwnClip servers. Your use of YouTube features is also governed by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. You may revoke OwnClip's access to your YouTube account at any time from inside the app (Go Live → Disconnect) or via Google's security settings page. OwnClip's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements; for full details on requested scopes and how data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
Twitch and custom RTMP destinations. When you use Go Live to broadcast to Twitch, OwnClip authenticates with your Twitch account via OAuth; the authorization callback is relayed through our server and then handed to the app. When you broadcast to a custom RTMP destination, you supply the server URL and stream key yourself. In all cases, video and audio stream directly from your Mac to the destination's ingestion endpoint over RTMP and do not pass through OwnClip servers. Your use of Twitch is governed by the Twitch Terms of Service and Privacy Notice; use of any custom RTMP destination is governed by that provider's terms. We are not responsible for the content you broadcast or for the third-party platforms you stream to.
Pro and Studio features are unlocked via your license status, validated through our server-side infrastructure. When you sign in, the application contacts our servers to verify your license tier and retrieve your authorized feature set and quality limits. This validation occurs on first sign-in, periodically (approximately every 24 hours), and when the application starts. The server response is cached locally to ensure offline functionality (see Section 13.8). Feature enforcement is server-authoritative: the server determines which features and quality settings your tier permits, and the application enforces these limits. License credentials are personal and non-transferable.
We reserve the right to modify list prices for the Pro and Studio tiers at any time. Price changes do not affect licenses already purchased — you keep what you paid for. You will be notified of price changes via our website. New major versions may be priced separately (see Section 13.6).
All payments for OwnClip Pro and Studio are processed through Lemon Squeezy (lemonsqueezy.com), which acts as our Merchant of Record. This means Lemon Squeezy:
By purchasing Pro or Studio, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's Buyer Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
OwnClip Pro and Studio are sold as one-time purchases. There is no monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring billing, no auto-renewal, no recurring charge to your payment method, and no subscription to cancel. You pay once at checkout and receive a perpetual license for the current major version of the Service (see Sections 13.6 — Versioned Licensing — and 13.7 — Device Activation Limits, for the scope of the license). All prices are in USD unless otherwise indicated at checkout. Applicable taxes (sales tax, VAT, GST) are calculated and collected by Lemon Squeezy based on your location.
Because Pro and Studio are sold as one-time purchases, there is no subscription to cancel and no recurring charge to stop. You may stop using the Service at any time without notifying us. Your purchased license remains valid for as long as the Service supports it, subject to these Terms (see Sections 13.6, 17, and 18). If you wish to deactivate a Mac to free up an activation slot, you can do so from ownclip.io/account or from within the application settings.
All purchases are final and non-refundable, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction provides otherwise. The Free tier is full-featured (see Section 4.1) and has no time limit; its limits are designed so you can fully evaluate the Service on real work before deciding whether the Pro purchase is worth it to you. We strongly encourage using the Free tier before purchasing. Nothing in this section limits any right that cannot be limited under applicable law. For billing questions, contact info@inuxo.com with your order number or checkout email.
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us at info@inuxo.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. Chargebacks filed without first contacting us, or filed in bad faith, may result in revocation of your license and a temporary or permanent block on future purchases.
We may, at our discretion, offer promotional pricing, time-limited grace periods, or trial access to paid features. Any such promotion is governed by its own disclosed terms at the time it is offered, and does not modify the one-time-purchase model described in Section 5.2.
You own all content you create using OwnClip. This includes recordings, screenshots, annotations, transcriptions, chapters, comments, ratings, and any other user-generated content. We claim no ownership, license, or rights over your content. These Terms do not grant us any intellectual property rights in your content.
All recording, encoding, AI processing, and editing occurs locally on your Mac. Your recordings, screenshots, and transcriptions are never transmitted to our servers. We do not operate content servers, CDNs, or processing infrastructure for user content. We do operate server-side infrastructure for authentication, license validation, analytics, share metadata, and branding — none of which involve your media content. When you upload to Google Drive, the content goes directly from your device to Google's infrastructure under your own Google account and subject to Google's terms.
When you share a recording or screenshot via view.ownclip.io, a share record is created in our cloud database containing metadata (share ID, title, description, duration, type, view count, and your branding settings if applicable). The actual video or screenshot content is loaded directly from your Google Drive — we do not cache, copy, transcode, store, or inspect shared content. When you enable sharing, our server-side service sets "anyone with link" read access on the corresponding Google Drive file; when you disable sharing, the permission is revoked. You are responsible for the content you share.
You are solely responsible for the content you record, edit, and share. You represent and warrant that your content does not violate any applicable law, infringe any third-party rights (including intellectual property, privacy, and publicity rights), or breach any duty of confidentiality.
You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your recordings. Locally stored recordings may be lost due to disk failure, application uninstallation, or system issues. We recommend uploading important recordings to Google Drive or exporting them to an external storage device.
You agree not to use the Service to:
If you use features that require authentication (Google OAuth for Drive, Pro license key), you are responsible for:
We reserve the right to revoke or deactivate license keys that we reasonably believe have been compromised or are being used in violation of these Terms.
The OwnClip name, logo, application code (excluding open-source components), website design, documentation, and all associated trademarks, service marks, and trade dress are owned by OwnClip and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property ownership to you beyond the limited license granted in Section 3.
If you provide suggestions, feature requests, bug reports, or feedback about the Service ("Feedback"), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use, modify, and incorporate such Feedback into the Service without obligation, attribution, or compensation. You waive any moral rights in such Feedback to the extent permitted by law.
"OwnClip," the OwnClip logo, and other OwnClip-related trademarks are our trademarks. You may not use these trademarks without our prior written consent, except to truthfully identify that you use the Service (e.g., "Made with OwnClip" on a shared recording).
The Service integrates with or relies on third-party services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies:

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or conduct of any third-party service. If Google Drive, Google Cloud, or other third-party services become unavailable or change their APIs, we will make reasonable efforts to adapt but cannot guarantee uninterrupted functionality. Third-party services may collect data according to their own privacy policies (see our Privacy Policy for details).
By using the Service and/or purchasing a paid license, you consent to receiving electronic communications from us and from Lemon Squeezy (as our payment processor). These communications may include:
We may occasionally send product-related communications (new features, important updates). You can unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time. You agree that these electronic communications satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes in detail how we handle your data. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Key points:
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, TITLE, AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.
YOU FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE SERVICE IS CURRENTLY BETA SOFTWARE (SEE SECTION 2.3) AND THAT THE "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" DISCLAIMERS APPLY WITH PARTICULAR FORCE TO BETA STATUS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION TO FEATURES STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT, COMPATIBILITY ON ANY SPECIFIC HARDWARE OR macOS VERSION, AND ANY PUBLICLY DISCUSSED ROADMAP OR FUTURE FEATURE. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS WARRANTIES THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE MANDATORY CONSUMER-PROTECTION LAW.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. macOS updates, API deprecations, or operating system changes may affect functionality. Features dependent on third-party APIs (Google Drive, Apple frameworks) may change or become unavailable due to factors beyond our control. Features that require our server-side infrastructure (authentication, license validation, sharing) depend on the continued availability of that infrastructure, which is not guaranteed indefinitely (see Section 18).
While we implement best-effort encoding and error handling, we do not guarantee that every recording will complete successfully, that all recordings will be complete or uncorrupted, or that export/encoding will produce error-free output. Do not rely on OwnClip as the sole record of critical information. Always maintain independent backups of important content.
AI-powered features (background segmentation, noise removal, speech transcription, face detection, auto-light correction, PII scanning, and AI-generated content detection) are based on machine learning models that may produce imperfect results. Specifically:
These features are provided for convenience and should not be relied upon for accuracy in legal, medical, financial, or other critical applications.
The OwnClip macOS application requires macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later and Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). OwnClip targets the current macOS release; older macOS versions are not supported, and we provide no compatibility, functionality, or support guarantee for them. An older install may continue to run, but at your own risk. We likewise do not guarantee compatibility with future macOS releases. Some features may require specific hardware capabilities for optimal performance.
The OwnClip macOS application uses a versioned licensing model:
By purchasing the macOS application, you acknowledge that you are acquiring a license to the current major version in its current state. New major versions with significant new features are separate paid products.
The number of Mac devices a license may be activated on at any one time depends on your tier: Pro allows 1 Mac, and Studio allows up to 2 Macs. Specifically:
The OwnClip macOS application includes offline license validation and anti-tampering measures:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (such as liability for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence).
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless OwnClip, its founders, officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and legal costs) arising from or related to:
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content shared via view.ownclip.io infringes your copyright, please note:
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the OwnClip macOS application. Because Pro and Studio are one-time purchases (Section 5.2), there is no subscription to cancel and no recurring charge to stop. Uninstalling the application removes its local data; files already uploaded to your Google Drive are not affected by uninstallation. Stopping use does not entitle you to a refund (see Section 5.4).
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or revoke your license key, if:
Upon termination by us for cause, you are not entitled to a refund. Upon termination without cause (e.g., service discontinuation), refunds, if any, are governed by Section 5.4 and Section 18.
Termination does not affect your ownership of content you created. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including but not limited to: User Content Ownership (Section 6.1), Disclaimers (Section 13), Limitation of Liability (Section 14), Indemnification (Section 15), Governing Law (Section 20), and any accrued payment obligations.
We may modify, update, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to provide notice of material changes via the application, our website, or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
If we discontinue the server-side infrastructure (authentication, license validation, sharing, analytics), the following applies:
Refund rights on service discontinuation are governed by Section 5.4. We are not obligated to provide refunds for paid licenses purchased more than 12 months prior to a discontinuation announcement, except where required by applicable law.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide notice through the application, website, or email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Where you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved as follows:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. If this class action waiver is found to be unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the entirety of this arbitration/dispute resolution section will be deemed void with respect to you.
Disputes related to payments, charges, refunds, or billing should first be directed to Lemon Squeezy through their customer portal or support channels, as they are the Merchant of Record for all transactions. If Lemon Squeezy cannot resolve your payment dispute, contact us at info@inuxo.com and we will assist.
The Service may be subject to export control laws and economic sanctions, including those of the United States, the European Union, and Israel. You represent and warrant that:
Neither party shall be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemic, epidemic, government action or regulation, power failure, internet or telecommunications disruption, third-party service outages (including Google Drive or Lemon Squeezy outages), cyberattacks, or labor disputes.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent. If such modification is not possible, the invalid provision shall be severed and the remaining Terms shall be enforced.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Lemon Squeezy's Buyer Terms (for paid customers), constitute the entire agreement between you and OwnClip regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, proposals, representations, and understandings, whether written or oral.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms or any of your rights or obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, provided the assignee agrees to be bound by these Terms. Any purported assignment in violation of this section is void.
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms at any time shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms will be effective only if in writing and signed by an authorized representative.
If you have questions about these Terms, need support, or want to report a violation, contact us at:
